It's coming!

I was really thrilled to see my book getting it's own full page ad in Diamond Previews. It's been a long road, but the wait will finally be over in January. Sparko will be released as a chunky little bundle of graphic novelish goodness (Look! Someone even gave it the "Certified Cool" thingy!). It's available through Diamond (page 216, Code: STK453515), Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and Barnes & Noble.

Here's a spiffy interview I did to promote it:

3D Showreel's done

I spent some time at the beginning of the year modeling Harry, Norman and Robo from Sparko. I'd gotten started with Belle, her scooter and Cookie (one of those damn chihuahuas), but lost steam somewhere along the line. I didn't have anything planned for these models specifically, so I thought I'd put the finished ones on a turntable for people to see.  Learning to rig will be next, so I can pose them properly. After that maybe I'll start looking into 3D printing because they'd look great as statuettes, even if they only ever adorn my own workspace.

Sketchbook

Here are some sketches I did whilst on our trip to Poland over Easter. Some are loose caricatures from photos in local magazines and others I drew without references.

I've also been busy tinkering away at another Sparko model. This is most of the sculpting done. More on this stuff later.

There . . now someone go make a movie!

It was good to zip and send Sparko off to SLG along with all the extra stuff (thanks guys for pitching in with your pin ups). My Velocity contribution is nearly done, so I decided it's time to do something different, but relevant to my own creations. Hence, I've decided to create some 3D art involving Sparko characters. I mean, I could do what everyone else does and crap out a piece of Batman or Hellboy fan art, but then again I DO have my own graphic novel coming out soon and it's not like the big boys even need another evangelist.  Hence, the Harry bust. I might build a body for him and put him in a scene chasing someone with a mace, but first I think I'll get started on some of the other characters.

OONTZ WIP

Oontz is the name of my contribution to the full colour Velocity comics anthology. It's a little satire involving the Reich and Rave music. I'm drawing this in a more realistic style than my Sparko stuff, which is a nice change.

Another Kewl SPARKO pin up

This one's from Sid, another old pal and comic book aficionado. Looking at the vibrant colour scheme I think my comic would have benefited from his pallet.

Happy 2011, btw. It just arrived out of nowhere like a big hairy thing on a pogo stick, didn't it? Let's see what it's got for us in its pocketses.
